As we have discussed the negative impacts of the Present Education System on Children and Parents both, In this article we will discuss the alternate ways of Education. To save the invaluable Childhood of Children and also the unworthy efforts and money of Parents in the name of Education, alternate ways are seriously required here.
To break the social chains and jump over the hurdles put by society is not an easy task, always. Yet I am providing here some of the best and tested methods for schooling the children, alternate to regular schooling.
The first one is the ancient and traditional Gurukul system. Some of you will be wondering about where to find these Gurukuls in this era of 2020? But there are still some Gurukuls in Bharat that are educating the children in materialistic as well as in a spiritual way. Some foresighted Religious Organisations of Bharat have realized the flaws in the current education system and thus to save the children from their negative results, Gurukuls were established by these organisations across Bharat. Some of the best Gurukuls in Present Bharat are listed here:
* Swaminarayan Gurukul International Schools and VidyaMandirs (BAPS Organisation).
BAPS Swaminarayan organisation is having 13 Gurukuls in the states of Gujrat, Rajasthan and Maharastra as well as 1 International Vidyamandir in London also. These Gurukuls are fully equipped with Hi-tech facilities and a well-educated group of Teachers. But what for those who neither live near any of these Gurukuls nor they want their children to go away from them and study in boarding Gurukuls?
Is there not any other option, for them?
The answer is, fortunately, Yes. There's another option for them to sculpt their child's future, the way they want. This option is 'HOMESCHOOLING'.
Let's discuss every aspect of Homeschooling here:
1. WHAT IS HOMESCHOOLING?
To educate the child upto secondary or senior secondary level at home is termed as 'Homeschooling'.
2. IS IT PRACTICAL?
Yes, it is practical for sure. Many of the parents from across the world are opting for homeschooling their children. There's also an active online association in Bharat about homeschooling. This association is known as 'Swasikshan- Indian Association of Homeschoolers'. Every type of assistance about homeschooling is provided at their portal and groups. 3. WHAT ABOUT CERTIFICATIONS? DOES ANY BOARD OF EDUCATION PROVIDE CERTIFICATIONS TO HOMESCHOOLERS?
Yes, there are Centre as well as State Boards of Education which provide Certifications to Homeschooling children.
*NIOS- NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OPEN SCHOOLING.
NIOS is a central board of Bharat which provides secondary and senior secondary level certifications to students studying other than regular schools. The certifications provided by NIOS are acceptable by all higher-education Colleges/Universities/Institutes and job providing organisations across the Bharat. Even for studying abroad these certifications are valid. There's no type of discrimination done with the certifications of regular CBSE, ICSE boards and with the NIOS board across Bharat. One more positive thing about the NIOS board is that NIOS provides Books and required assistance to self-studying students is also given at their dedicated Centres operating all around the Bharat. *STATE BOARD OPEN SCHOOLS.
Most of the State Boards across Bharat run OPEN SCHOOLS. These Open Schools provide certifications to the students studying other than regular schools, upto secondary and senior secondary level. Like as in the Punjab State the Punjab School Education Board(PSEB) provides certifications upto Secondary and Senior Secondary levels, in regular as well as in open, both modes. PSEB provides affiliation to the schools around Punjab state for open schooling. It also provides required books and assistance to the students at these affiliated schools. The certification provided to open school students is same as that of regular school students. There's no difference between the provided certificates. However, parents can verify on their own about the certificates, in case of other states. It will also be a good option for homeschooled children to follow these state-run open schools.
Choosing any of these options, parents can educate their children the way they want and get certifications upto secondary and senior secondary levels from these boards.
4. WHAT WILL BE THE BENEFITS OF HOMESCHOOLING?
The benefits of Homeschooling are countless.
There are lots and lots of benefits of Homeschooling, all of which are impossible to quote. You will feel them and find out one after one, once you start homeschooling your child. I am sure He/She will surprise you with the caliber and potential he holds, which will be going to waste in the hustle of schools, otherwise.

PSEB provides affiliation to the schools around Punjab state for open schooling. It also provides required books and assistance to the students at these affiliated schools. The certification provided to open school students is same as that of regular school students. There's no difference between the provided certificates. However, parents can verify on their own about the certificates, in case of other states. It will also be a good option for homeschooled children to follow these state-run open schools.
Choosing any of these options, parents can educate their children the way they want and get certifications upto secondary and senior secondary levels from these boards.
4. WHAT WILL BE THE BENEFITS OF HOMESCHOOLING?
The benefits of Homeschooling are countless.
- The energy of the children which is going to drain in studying useless subjects and doing wasteful things can be used in various useful things which could positively sculpt his/her future.
- Children can be saved from going on the wrong path of Drugs, Crime, Vulgarity etc. in the unsafe environment of schools.
- Much of the energy of parents will also be saved, which was going to drain in lifting the heavy loads of fees and running to be punctual all the time, otherwise.
- A child can focus on multiple things while homeschooling which can burnish his/her no. of personalities like Sports, Physical fitness, Singing, Music, Artwork, Dance, Painting, Agriculture etc.
- The minimum age limits of NIOS and most of the State boards are 14 yrs. for secondary and 15 yrs. for senior secondary courses. However, in a normal case, a child passes out from senior secondary course, at the age of 17-18. So, 2 to 3 years of a child can easily be saved in open schooling.
- A child can be easily directed and made to respect the cultural and moral values and also, to respect the elders, while Homeschooling.
- A child is like a little plant, which can be molded in any direction according to the environment provided. Homeschooling will let you mold the child's growth according to the way you want, without any external disturbances.
- Homeschooling will make the bond of a family stronger by keeping all the members together for most of the time.
