EDUCATION OR SKILLS - WHAT'S WORTHY?
OVERVIEW:
In this article, we will discuss:
* The Education system of Bharat in comparison with America, England, Europe, Japan, and similar countries.
* What are the reasons behind the huge level of unemployment in Bharat despite having a large number of Engineering, Medical and Management institutes all over Bharat.
* Comparison of Ancient Bharat (before British rule) and Present Bharat, in terms of Education and work-environment.
* Youngsters having attained 30's and 40's and they are not sure about their careers.
* Need to focus and invest on the Smart & Worthy Skills rather than the Dumb & Unmworthy Education. Needn't to become an Ass who carries the load of Sugar all his life, but doesn't know how it tastes.
DISCOURSE:
The Education system of Bharat is Weird, certainly.
Here, an Electronics engineering graduate doesn't know how the electricity passes through the circuits of devices like TVs, ACs, Cell phones, etc. but a 10th fail mechanic is repairing the electrical and electronics circuits with ease and thus making money on the basis of his skills and experience.
Or it can be said so,
An MBBS or MD scholar doesn't know how and where to practice but a merely 10th or 12th pass rural doctor is practicing well and making money on the basis of his experience and skills.
The education system of present Bharat is theoretically-based, mostly. There are an infinite number of colleges, universities, and institutes across Bharat which provides only paper-based education. The graduates coming out of these colleges/universities lack practical knowledge and practical experience. However, practical knowledge is of utmost importance in countries like America, Britain, Japan, and Australia. Their education system doesn't rely merely on books and papers. A graduate is considered whom, who is having a particular level of practical knowledge and experience along with theoretical knowledge. A person having high experience in a particular field but less theoretical knowledge is also considered a Graduate there. Their focus is on practical work.
But here in Bharat, there's complete insanity being carried out, all in the name of education. A student goes through School→College→University, after passing out What He/She realizes? He has collected only paper-based knowledge all his life, which is of no use in practical life. He knows nothing about the work-environment here in Bharat. How the system works here? how the works are done and how the money is earned? he knows nothing. And to worse the big dreams he had seen, do not let him do an available regular but small level work. The small scale works are considered as a shame by educated students, in comparison with the education they have got. So where they will go and survive? The employment opportunities available do not match the level of education, here in Bharat. The educated students feel ashamed of doing the available works in the market. This a major reason of unemployment in the country despite having a huge no. of educational institutions.
Due to this, one major concern- 'Brain Drain of Bharat' also arises.
Brain drain means when the efficient workforce in the form of youth, leave a nation and look for better opportunities in other nations.
Mostly in the Northern region of Bharat, it is a common trend, after XIIth or Graduation students go abroad in the name of higher studies and look for opportunities to settle there. Most of them never return to Bharat. They don't find Bharat as a suitable place to work. Most of the types of work opportunities here are of low level, in their vision. Such high-caliber youth, who have the capabilities to restore the lost glory and dignity of Bharat is leaving the nation and working for the development of other nations. It is a matter of serious concern.
When we look at the ancient Bharat(before the arrival of British), the economy of Bharat was very sound and no unemployment exists in Bharat, then. The economy of Bharat then relies on Rural Bharat and not on the Urban one. Everyone in village was having his own work to do. Carpenter was doing carpentry from generations, weavers were weaving from generations, similarly, Priests, astrologers, soldiers, artists, musicians, masons, butlers are doing their jobs from generations. One does not need to worry about his livelihood in those times. It is for this, they become capable early and start their own lives after being married early. Reaching the age of 20 or 25, they become parents also.
But in present Bharat, the youth is so much confused about selecting his profession and follow a zig-zag path by switching his profession through whole of his life. Even after graduation or post-graduation, there are not many employment opportunities matching the qualifications. Reaching the age of 30 and even 40, one is confused about selecting a work for his livelihood. One is hardly getting settled at '30s or '40s and after then only, their married life starts and they become parents after '40s. It's not a matter of fun but it's true in most of the cases in our surroundings.
What we should call it now, Development or Decadence?
This needs to be changed. Smart and worthy skills are required to be focused rather than dumb and unworthy education. Students should be educated and skilled, particularly in a work, they are interested in. There's no need to fill their minds with the excessive load of useless subjects. Like, If a child is good at painting/artwork, he should be trained in this field with consideration of the scope of this work in the environment outside. There's no need to taught him the other subjects of Science, history, economics, etc. Only, some of the basics of the important subjects will be enough for him, for whole of his life. The education system of Bharat is far away from the ground-level reality of the Job-Market. Most of the students do not find the usefulness of their education in their practical lives, when they come out for work after studies.
Researches are required, to look for the possible ways to match the Education level with the Job-Market of Bharat. Education should be curated in a work-oriented way. Education should be a favorable tool for one's livelihood but not an unproductive load on one's shoulders. For this, Skills are required to be focused, these are required to be identified and polished among the upcoming youth of Bharat. Without practical skills, mere theoretical knowledge is of no use. Students should be free to decide their interests and thus their future, with a little help from the experienced elders. They should also be required to understand the work-environment in their surroundings. There's no need to make them lost in the puzzle of unworthy and endless subjects.
